Accident - Rear ended causing electrical issues
This is my first post. I have read the forums often for accessories, but I think I am very lucky to have NEVER had a problem with my 2003 Mini Cooper S. It is in perfect condition except for the key faub and one minor ding.
I was rear ended with a moderate amount of damage to the bumper and slight damage to the hatch. The car stalled when I tried to move out of traffic. Shortly after restarting, the DSC warning light came on, the air conditioner stopped working, and the SES warning light came on. By the end of the night, it became increasing harder to get the car to start. It would turn over for a long time or take a long time, catch and then stall.
My dad told me that some cars go into a 'limp mode' after an accident and advised me to clear the codes from the computer. The codes immediately reappeared. I wrote down the codes.
P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor)
P0445 Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted
P0037 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank1, Sensor 2)
P0031 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1, Sensor 1)
I brought the car to the dealership body shop today to meet the other guy's insurance adjuster. They balked at running a diagnostic test on the car. Seems as though they may not take care of the electrical work on the car.
I know very little about cars, but it is too big of a coincidence not to be related to the accident. I only carry liability, so I doubt my insurance will not cover the repairs. I plan to be forceful with the adjuster, and I am not sure what else I should do.
