I like the Alta intake alot. It removed the partition between the engine compartment for better airflow. It isn't noisy under normal driving but when you floor it, you definetly hear the SC. Sounds great though. Very happy with the quality and it dresses up the engine compartment.

I just added Alta intake and Nology wires to the JCW. Love the sound and the additional ponies!

Cosmetically, the red intake and inlet hose match the red of "S" lettering and JCW logos in the engine compartment. The color can be further accentuated with red Nology wires and red caps (oil, transmission fluid, etc...).

I went from a bmp intake to an alta and I love the Alta BUT I find it's very loud...I can actually hear the thing sucking in air at low rpms...after that, it stops and the lovely intercooler whine comes through...(should we even call it a whine?)
rephrase
...after that, the enchanting sounds of the intercooler fill the car with an inebriating sense of performance and pleasure...

Now if you are willing to wait, I hear Helix is coming out with a Carbon Fiber intake that is said to go all the way to the throttle body...I haven't seen any pics, but I've seen CF intakes on other cars, and they really look good.

if you are thinking of a tower brace in the future to tighten up the front end then look into bmp unit. they have a nice combo with the tower brace and intake that both fit very well. i like the bmp for sound not to loud but you know something is under that hood or bonnet, and the tower brace really helps keep the front end solid. once the hood or bonnet is closed all you really want is ease of filter change and performance that the new air box will provide. brg mcs modded pulley 15%, short shifter, bmp airfilter, tower brace not sure what else to get myself

Prestige MINI in NJ sent me a JCW brochure in the mail that had a separate flier anouncing a dealer installed cold air intake. The intake looks exactly like my Pilo cai.I found it interesting that a dealership is realizing how to cash in on the aftermarket finally.
