Worn T/O bearing?

So ive always known that my 2004 S had a slight rattle whenever its first started, sorta like a rattle that disappeared when the clutch was depressed.. I looked online and now im seeing that its an indication of either the flywheel or throwout bearing.. How serious is this, and how hard to replace?

What sorta mileage are you looking at ?

Mine has had that "chatter" for the last 75K miles and just having that addressed next week at 140K. If I release the cutch very slowly allowing pressure to build up evenly it makes no noise.

Doing all the hydraulics and clutch kit while in there same time.....( Staying OEM )

You have to drop the transmission (and the front sub-frame on the way)

The throw out bearing in my R50 has been rattling like that for the past 10,000+ miles (maybe 20k) I'm currently at 83k miles. But just a week or so ago I noticed it doesn't go away anymore (except when I press on the clutch).

I want to get mine taken care of before it binds up or otherwise causes further damage.

It's something like a $20.00 part, but is done with a clutch job (while they have the transmission out). If you do the flywheel while you're in there, it could put it over $2,000.oo

The real question is how long do we dare put that off? And what is the damage that could be done if we wait too long?

Looks like one of the risks is the bearings grenadine and destroying your housing.
