More '04 MCS problems

Hello,

I had the 2004 Mini Cooper checked out by a mechanic. Even though the check engine light wasn't on, I asked him if he would scan for any codes. I'm glad I did. The lady who called me from the mechanic's shop said he got the 1692 code twice. She said that the message was "Manufacturer Computer Control Circuit." I looked around online and it seems that a 1692 code could mean anything from a blown head gasket to a low battery.

I asked them to check the battery voltage, but I haven't heard back from them. They also told me that one of the lower control arm bushings was shot and that the other one was starting to go. I'm thinking that it would run about $500 to get that fixed.

I'm thinking that I might want to look at another car.

I am thinking that you are thinking in the right direction. There are plenty of MINI's out there. Better to take the time to find the right one first then to chase repairs on the wrong one.
