Coolant Leak...Need feedback
The top coolant hose popped off tonight while I was at a light.
Stopped at a parts store and purchased a 50/50 mixture and filled the overflow. Reattached the hose and as I was driving home the heat intensity decreased even though I had it set to 80° and when I got greenie home......no heat
The overflow level has no decreased. I expected it to decrease to replenish what I lost. I'm thinking that air is trapped in the system.
Do I need to bleed the air off. If so, how?
The temperature gauge is reading normal (just a bit shy less than half way)
Could the thermostat be toast????

1. Open the coolant bleed scres in the upper hose and the heater return hose (protecting the alternator).
2. Fill the engine with coolant (50/50 mix of what is already in there - dont mix colors) through thermostat housing.
3. Close bleed screws when air free coolant flows.
4. Continue to fill through thermostat housing.
5. Fill tank to 'Max'.
6. Start engine and run at idle with heat on.
7. Top off coolant as necessary.
8. Turn off engine and install cap.
Prob just air in the line, did you bleed from both areas ?

Coolant...
Thanks for the feedback....located the bleed screw, but i could not locate the thermostat housing, but I did fill the overflow tank a few times.
The heat seems to be working fine...I see a it of steam rising from a wet area, could this be a small leak to having low coolant level.
Pete at Greasys garage is going to take a look at in the morning.
