Clearing P2097 Code in Bay Area?

Hi, I've been a regular observer on these forums for a while, and would appreciate some help from my fellow Mini people!

I am trying to get my smog done this year, but the test center said I have a P2097 error code, and can't get it tested until it is cleared. After researching on here, it looks like the remedy would be to clear the code through a dealership or mechanic.

I don't want to go in and have to argue with them on what I would like done, since I am sure they will tell me it is an O2 sensor or something else. Ideally, I'd like to get it cleared so I can get it smog'd. Plus, I don't want to pay a lot of money to get this taken care of with this easy fix.

So, with that said, does anyone know of a local bay area shop that would be able to help without the hassle? Preferably in the east bay area would be great.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

What I did to clear codes that pop up was to purchase the Peake code reader.

I believe its available from Way Motor Works.

I would offer mine, but I am located in Nevada.

Keep in mind that there is a new model: Go Pro Hero2 http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero2-motorsports-edition/

the LCD is easier to read, but is $299. The original Go Pro Hero, and motorsport kit, may come down in price due to this new model.

I could possibly assist, I could install my accessport on your car, clear the code, if it still exists, then unmarry the AP from your car. I'm located in the East Bay.

Thanks everyone for the responses!

Sure! Anything is worth a try=D I am in Pleasanton. Perhaps we can meet at Edge MotorWorks in Dublin, if that's convenient for you?

If that doesn't work, then I suppose getting the tool is the next option=P
