Engine Problem or Clutch?

I have a 2003 Mini Cooper non S. Since this week, my car starts to feel like its going to stall whenever i press my clutch in neutral on a complete stop. The RPM drops and the car shakes. Has anyone had this problem before? Do i need to change my clutch or is it a engine problem? Please let me know. Thanks.

Just to be sure we understand what's going on...if you are at a stop in neutral and your foot is off of the clutch all is smooth? When you press the clutch pedal to the floor still in neutral "The RPM drops and the car shakes"?

Yes. When I am in neutral and my foot is off the clutch it is smooth. However, when I press the clutch and it is in neutral my rpm drops and the car shakes like its going to stall. Also, when I was driving it today, the car would feel like stalling when I put it in first gear and started to let go of the clutch as I give more gas. Does this mean my clutch isn't grabbing onto my gear or is it another issue?
