Fog Lamp Light out, replace it myself or dealership?
#1
soooo after my wheel well light almost caught fire... and the car was in the shop for a week... thats fine and dandy now.. however, my front driver side fog lamp either..
A. Burned out
B. caught fire as well (i hope not)
Im thinking the bulb just went out...
soooo my question is, how does one change these lil buggers? I havent had a good chance to look unerneath the car to see if its easily accessable, do you think i should bring it to the dealership to have replaced or do it myself?
thanks!

If anything goes wrong with the foglights (other than bulb replacement), MINI only calls them out as the entire assembly, so you (or the dealer) will have to order the fog light assembly (specific R & L). MINI does not have a part number for the foglight bulbs, but the dealer may stock the H11 bulbs anyway (not sure on that one).
I replaced both my foglights after the lenses cracked.
- You have to remove undo some connections in the wheel well liners to access the fog light mounting screws
- I found it helped to also remove the bumper cover to see a little better what you were aiming for (the screw)
- There are also some connectors that need to be undone.
The major pain is getting those three screws that hold each foglight undone and then getting the screw started again when you install the new assembly.
The new foglights will also need to be reaimed (not the case with bulb replacement).
Given all that, I would try to get the dealer to warrenty your foglights first, and only do the replacement on your own if you have to. Incidently, if you have to order the fog lights and replace them yourself, call the Classic MINI parts department.

It is very easy to replace those lights. Pull the front wheel and there are 4 screws to remove. If you need help you can email me. robgamber@comcast.net

You've already paid for the warranty. Why not let the dealer take care of it for you?
Plus, it might be something more serious than just a bad bulb, like a cracked connector or a bad wiring harness. If you mess with it yourself, the dealer will have an excuse not to cover it under warranty.
