somebody help with this? whats going on?

i was driving and flashed my lights at somebody with high-beams on. the second i hit my highbeam switch. my car goes BLACK. all power is gone. no hazards, nothing. i cuold not get my back open. the owner manual said there is some pin to pull under the rear seat. my car seems not to have this pin. so i got to battery box via the back seats. and everything looks nice and clean.

car is dead. wife goes get the other just-a-car. as i wait i fiddle witht he battery some. and i jiggled something on the passenger side of it and the lights flickered. so i keep messing about and got lights and power.

ok i try to start car and poooooof. gone again,. fiddled about and got lights a second time. this time i was able to start car and drive home. even was able to flash the high-beams again!

now im afraid to drive the car! only thing odd is the orange box near battery with the cap removed.

anybody have a clue what happned?

anybody know where this hidden latch is for the rear door?

meanwhile poor mini-moo has to be grounded!

Can't help with the electrical issue, but I can assure you the inside release doesn't exist for some 2002 Minis. My early build 2002 R53 does not have the release - also had to get to the battery from the back seat. Good luck on the electrical problem.

I had a similar issue. 03 MC...it would die while stopped at a light. I removed the ECU and cleaned all the connections, no more issues....just a thought.

 

not saying it died.

all the power was gone. no lights. no hazards, no radio. no dash lights. like the battery fell out the back of the car.
