v.36 List of Programmable Options???
#1
Does anyone have a complete list of the v.36 programmable options. We need to get a list off to the dealer this week and last time no one even was aware of some of the options. Here is a great list by Vespa for the v.32

Each dealer has a form which lists the convenience options they can program for you. I've been to 4 dealers so far and have yet to come across two dealers with the same list. Amazingly, you have to convince them that certain options are even available. And then they claim that it is impossible to program those options. I don't know if it's bad training or just general incompetence within BMW.
This is one area which affects every new owner, yet BMW and its dealers can't seem to get their act together.

Wait that was not available when I got my car... Feb/03 build... so with V.36 I should be able to have that function?

Whoa....before anyone gets all in a lather about this one...There is NO reported connection between the version of the DME (engine management) software and "programmable options"! So, it doesn't matter what version of the DME software you have (CD 32, 36, etc.) your programmable options are the same. Put simply (and probably not entirely accurately), the DME software deals with a whole other part of the car's computer than where the control of programmable options resides.
There's been some rumor among just a few (out of many, many) posters to the software upgrade threads that some of their programmable options changed (i.e., stopped working) after a DME upgrade, but I think that's just rumor and probably resulted from installer error. In my personal experience, I've had my software upgraded 3 times from that which the car came with and I've never lost or gained any options. I'd stick with the list Haf provided...that looks pretty complete to me.

911Fan is correct. you have to convince them that they can do some options. I had my 04mcs delivered with autolocking. I had read that autounlocking exists and asked about it. My dealer insisted it was NOT possible. I wasn't convinced and called anther dealership about autounlocking (which does not appear anywhere in the owner's manual). They not only know about it, they told me how easy it is to find right next to autolocking. I called my dealership and they added this option.
here's my original post along with the defaults that are set, if you or the dealer hasn't changed them in an 04MCS (i think little changed between 03 and 04 as far as these options.

nope, MINI has that specifically unavailable for "safety reasons" which is funny since BMW has it. go figure.
some people though are doing their own auto-up mod.

That's probably a fluke because I don't think that "dome light on with remote unlock" is a programmable option anyway. Rather, it's probably that you've turned off the dome light with the switch and just need to turn it back on (i.e., I'll also bet that it doesn't come on when you open the door either). Read the manual section about the dome light switch.
Of course, you could also have a dead bulb...

>>After my ECU was upgraded to v36 my dome lights no longer activated when the car is unlocked with the remote. Is that a programmable option or just a fluke?

>>Thanks
Go to your manual and read about pressing and holding the dome light button to set options. I think this will take care of it. It did for me with my 03 MCS when it was new.

PMC,
I had my MCS programmed with 36 and my dome light did not go on when I unlocked. I followed your cue and pushed the dome light button and held it until it blinked a couple of times and now it works like it used to. I have a 2002 MCS and the manual does not say anything about this. Thanks a bunch. This site has proved to be very helpful.
