This is what a blown Midland looks like

After a C/PP/TO replament and then turning the flywheel the transmission went.
This is what a blown Midland looks like. Just about took out the C/PP, nicked all the trox screws but was still able to remove them. Luckly the flywheel and its teeth are still good.

No kidding, when it blows and blows...

Enjoy

is that how they all look? I thought mine went but it didn't look like that. Maybe it was just the disintegrated clutch

Mine looked exactly like that, and one of the gear pieces got jammed against the differential and punched another hole in the outside of the case, between the axle shafts. I have a pic in my intro thread.

IDK, this was my first.
It looked like the bearing collapsed and shot the bearings into the gear, which like Blackbomber destroyed the gear teeth. Then its down hill after that.

Mine was making a grinding/whining noise that increased with speed. I got about 500 miles out of it until it was so loud I couldn't stand it. I was also out of town at the time and the drive home was enough. The tech pulled the fill plug and saw metal shavings all over it and called the extended warranty company and they came out to drive it, hear it and was kind of disappointed I chose to drive it home ~200 miles in such a condition. But as with MINI they don't repair, just replace the tranny.
