clock and trip odometer zeroed out?!?
Last week I noticed that the clock started showing just dashes and the trip odometer had restarted at zero. (Messed up my gas mileage records, oh well) Can't figure out what happened. I reset the clock and haven't had an issues with it since, but would like to know if there is an electrical issue that I should get checked out by a shop. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm assuming it's not a big deal, but would like some reassurance from someone knowledgeable and also any tips for making sure it doesn't happen again. thanks.

yep - that's my first guess
I'm thinking a borderline battery, while cranking the starter, sent 0 to the clock and OBC long enuf for everything to zero out . . .
how old is your battery? MINI battery does not die gracefully. One time you get a start, next time you don't. You do not experience a 'slow crank'.
If the battery is 5 years old I'd replace it . . .

Everstart MAXX 47-3 at Walmart. Last I checked, it was $90. It may come with dual vent tubes. Since you have a non-S, I don't know if you have ventilation in the battery box (since it's in the front). If so, make sure both ends are capped off. You can get a small package of rubber caps at Walmart or any other parts store.
