Newbie Problems: Chirp sound from Passenger-side rear
Hi All. New guy. I've got an '89 325i and an '04 S4, so I have plenty of car problems. Now, my girlfriend's Cooper has something I've never seen before.
She's had the car for about 2.5 years - '04 Cooper CVT. For the majority of that time, or maybe all of it, it's had a chirp sound from the passenger-side rear, like a bird going cheep-cheep-cheep-cheep. It has no correlation to road speed or engine RPM, just a constant birdy sitting back there from idle to road speed and everywhere in-between. She's starting to get mad at me for not fixing it so I need your help!
She actually took it to a mechanic about a year ago who told her the brake caliper was "warped." Any creedence to that theory? Since it's not linked directly to speed or braking, I didn't think it was, but could it be a hydraulic chirp? My only other thought was something fuel-pump related, but that may not even be the correct side of the car for the pump.
Any/all suggestions are welcomed - thanks everybody.
