2006 Mini cylinder 1 misfire

I was chatting with a co-worker today about her 2006 mini with a cylinder 1 misfire issue.

They have replaced the coil packs and spark plugs but it is still throwing a code.

The super odd thing for me is that it only will misfire under idle. Get on the throttle and its smooth.

I'm thinking fuel injecter, so after work tomorrow i was going to swap two injectors and clear the code to see if it moves cylinders. Only problem is I have never been under a mini hood. I have done more repairs to more Saabs than I can count, (and a few volvos, trucks, ect).

Can I do this relatively fast in a drive way?

Any how to's out there to prime me?

I'm I barking up the right tree? I figured swap injectors, check, if its still cylinder 1 I'll pop a compression tester on there.

TIA mini peeps.

(I secretly want to buy my wife one a mini)

Hey! Fancy seeing you here.

I don't know the answer to your question but I thought I would blow your cover anyway.

Oh noes, my cover is blown.

With Saab circling the drain I'll have to move on to some other reliable* transportation with a hatch.

This co-worker is thinking about fixing it and moving up to a newer mini, maybe we can work something out...

First things first. Fix it.

What I have been told: there is nothing too magical about Minis. It is just like any other engine you've seen, just smaller. You should be able to do this in a driveway the same as any other, so I've been told, but the ink is barely dry on the contracts so I haven't spent too much time ripping into mine yet.

I fit the Aero wheels-- all four-- into the Mini today, btw. Surprisingly roomy even if it's ten feet shorter than M's Volvo.

You will need a torix set to remove the intercooler and sc boots...
Becareful not to tear the orings...new ones are cheap...(on the injectors)
The location of the injectors can results in lots oc grit/grime...clean it up to prevent crap from dropping into the head....some injectors can corrode/swell due to corrosion...be hard to remove...so don't force it..or you will need a new injector/tow. No prime needed...there is a tire style valve to drain the rail prime.

Thanks for the heads up Zippy. I happen to live in north central Massachusetts btw.

I wasn't referring to priming the rail, but "priming" me on how to do this so I know what to expect.

In, not on, sadly. Wrong bolt pattern. Could probably find adapters if I were ambitious enough but instead I will just unmount the new studded Altimaxes (seriously have run these for just three weeks, ugh) and pray that my local has 16" steelies in the right bolt pattern. I don't want to muck up these nice wheels. The 9-5 alloys are going to Matty A, I think.

When i type fast on a phone, the auto correct and tiny keyboard can make for some interesting combinations!!
Pete over at Greasysgarage does the stuff on my car i don't want to diy....about an hours drive for me.
The injector swap is about an hour job is it goes right...
If you have a compression tester, might be a good start...simpler...
Just be sure to retourqe the plugs right....mini's have a habit of spitting them out!!

Didn't have time to play with injectors today, just pulled the codes.

P0302 (Cylinder 2 misfire)
P0313 (Low fuel)

Thoughts?

We had a cylinder misfire code on our '06. Solution was to replace the head, as I recall. It was covered under extended warranty.

Extended warranty as in an existing warranty you had, or one mini tacked on due to problems?

The car is at 87k.
