Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
Just curious, has anyone actually received a letter from Mini telling them about the aux water pump recall? I already had mine replaced because my dealer was proactive but I have yet to receive a letter.
How hard can it be to send out a letter to the owners?
Ahhh... have you ever ran a customer system database with serial numbers, addresses, and other contact info?
I'm not alluding to it's stupid hard, but there's multiple checks and record confirmation that must be done first.
I just had mine done yesterday, no letter ever recieved. Dealer just plug your key fob into computer and if it is required they do it. They also noticed my main water pump was leaking so they replaced that also. They also flushed my brake fluid and changed my filters while I was there.
Just had my aux water pump done today; never received a letter. My heater wasn't working correctly, dealer says my thermostat (and housing) was leaking (had it replaced, $442), main water pump has very minor leak ($645, will wait a couple weeks to fix). Heater now working great, car running perfect. My warranty of course is expired. Got 61k on this baby. love my Mini but too much crap happening for a 3.5 year old car.
My Clubman S was made in Jan-2011. I saw your info that your one was made in 2011. But I previous read a detailed breakdown of each model. The issue for Clubman and Hardtop is up to manufacture date before Oct-2010. For Country, up to Jan-2011. So don't worry! I don't have the letter from the dealer too :-)
If you are worried, actually you can hear whether the pump works or not when the engine is turned off. You can hear some "beep" sound below the bonnet for a few minutes. The water pump is working!

Pump working is not the problem. The circuit board that controls the auxiliary water pump has a tendency to overheat and burn up, perhaps taking the rest of the car with it.
With modern technology it shouldn't be that hard to get a letter out quickly. What gets me is there are probably thousands of people that haven't heard about this. I wonder if the NHTSA gives car makers a certain amount of time to contact owners...
I did not get the letter yet for my 2010 MCS, but went in last week for my free oil change service and the dealer did the recall aux pump changeout without even asking. I was in and out in under 3 hours.
No letter, but dealer called twice and set up appointment to fix on second call. I've had recalls on other cars, but never had dealers being this proactive.
no letter yet.
i did get a post card from a local dealer about it though. my car is stored for winter, so I'll schedule when there isn't snow on the ground anymore
