Brake wear

Would heavy break wear cause the abs system to malfunction?

Rear brake on passenger side has gouges in the rotor causing crunching sounds. Got front and back checked and fronts will need to be replaced too but weren't near as bad. Not sure how I let it get to this point but I seem to change the year brakes once a year...

Anyways I've got the trafica(or whatever that's called) 3 warning lights on the dash. I've ordered a wheel speed sensor too but was wondering if the brake wear could have set off the light?

No, brake wear will not cause the trifecta.

I'd be looking for something like a small rock having found its way into the pad ... odd but it happens.

depending on your miles driven per yer this is VERY possibe as most drivers seem to find getting 30,000 out of MINI pads is unusual. What's your annual miles driven? I needed pads on my 02-S around 22,000 miles and had that car for almost 100,000 (used EBC pads after the OEM wore the first time) {I put EBC Green on my 07 as soon as I got it and they need to be replaced now at 39,000 - but I'm a retired very light driver now}

On the other hand my 95 Miata at 110,000 miles had 30% pad material left . . . .

Thanks for replying.

Could be a rock...I have to drive a bit over a km of gravel to get to my house. Seems like i'm getting a max of 25-30,000km's out of my rear brakes. Perhaps its because of my driving habits...
