R56 MCS Air Con gas leak......

After solving an idling issue on my MCS, another problem popped up.

Once a top overhaul was done, the air con started having a weird smell in the cabin and it is not cooling.

Is there any possibility for the R gas to be leaking into the cabin, I believe it is not poisonous but it will displace oxygen leading to asphaxyia.

Are the R56s known for having air conditioner issues and which area should I be looking at.

Have you checked the condition of the cabin air filter? I know when I checked mine on my recently purchased 04 MCS it looked as if it had never been changed. I believe a filter in need of replacing could add to both the smell and the ability to recirculate cold air.
