2007 MCS. Red diagram of a Mini up on a lift in the LED tach window, and the "brake" word lit up on the tach (the circle of lights). I had thought this was a warning about worn brake capipers, but it's not. Pardon me for asking in another thread about something else.

 

either brake pads, brake sensors, or brake fluid.

 

The sensor trips the pad warning. The manual says that warning looks like a "!" in a circle with brake shoes on either side of it. This is a car up on a lift.

 

It is the brake pad sensor. It's telling you that you need a brake job soon. My fiancee just got the exact same thing on her Countryman a couple of days ago.
