Exhaust Help

Hi all, I am hoping you might be able to provide some advice...

I purchased a 2007 MCS used and when I purchased the car it already had a Milltek turbo-back installed on the car. Car ran fine, no CELs or anything. Car subsequently went to a family member who is on the opposite end of the country.

Recently the car threw a CEL for what im pretty sure is the exhaust (I dont have the exact code but im getting it). Its a bit of a pickle because the car needs to have the tabs renewed and it wont pass emissions with the code. Im trying to figure out options for the car. A full oem turbo-back is prohibitively expensive from the dealer.

Since I am not near the car I was wondering if people knew:

How exactly is the MCS exhaust setup? Is it a downpipe/midpipe/catback muffler?

Where are the cats specifically? In the DP and then in the midpipe?

Does anyone know if I can buy/find just a stock oem downpipe and if that will bolt on to the remaining milltek components and solve the issues?

Finally, any recommendations on finding stock exhaust components? I havent had any luck finding a used 2007 exhaust yet, there is a 2010 for sale in the marketplace but im still trying to figure out if it will work.

Thanks!

Being a 2007 MCS it could be one of several known issues due to the early 2nd Gen cars. Without knowing the code it could be anything. A local auto parts store or mechanic needs to read the code.

If it does turn out to be emissions:yes you can just throw on a stock downpipe and once you clear the code, you should be good.

where are you located?

Thanks for the replies so far, the code its throwing is P2096 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1. The car is located in the Seattle area. Im going to call some local shops today to see if any of them might have an oem exhaust leftover from installing an aftermarket one on someones car.

Let's see, you bought the car with the exhaust, drove it for a while, sent it across the country, and now it has a code?

It's probably not related to the exhaust. Read the code, fix the problem.

So after putting in a new o2 sensor to no avail, it is the sport cat on the exhaust that is having the trouble. Trying to replace it with a used stock part. Thanks for the help everyone.
