Clutch Replacement/upgrade
Sorry if this is a repeat thread. if so, please direct me. this site is awesome but I find myself getting lost when searching.
I looking for a recommendation on replacing my eom (I think since I'm the 3rd, and final owner) clutch. I have a very noisy throw out bearing when at idle and the clutch is disengaged. It's an 03 r53.
I have been told it should be fine since I don't have any slippage yet. To me it's like a zit on the noise of a super model. I am also concerned that when/if it finally goes for good it might take the tranny with it.
I am in the process of doing several mods that will get the car to the low 200 hp range so I need something that can handle it. I do drive this car to work from time to time but it is more like a weekend warrior. I may try auto cross at some point but I'm more concerned about something that is user friendly on back road twistys and the commute.
What have people upgraded with? I have read about the Valeo and heard good things, but can it handle the power. I do like to push it from time to time.
Thoughts? Advise? Recommendations?

Don't keep the clutch in at lights, or in traffic. Let it out in neutral unless you are shifting. Keeping the TO bearing working heats it and kills it. Someone has done this on your car to make it noisy at this stage of things.
The stock clutch and the generic replacements like valeo can handle more power than that easily and is probably best for most folks.

I don't think the clutch in the JCW is any different than the clutch in the S, so stock or equivilant is likely fine. I've got 51,000 on JCW cabriolet and it's as fresh as a daisy. Also, unless you have a catastrophic clutch failure (very rare in any vehicle), it's not going to damage your transmission.

You can get rid of the MSD coil pack as stock works well and the aftermarket ones can cause problems sometimes. If you want to keep it, just remember to swap it out first thing if you have any issues. You can sell it and go back to stock without any downside and a possible uptick in reliability.

I have a car with 244HP and don't have any noticeable slip, so I just put in another stock clutch (I had the transmission out for an LSD install - stock clutch was still in good shape). I discussed this with Way Motor Works and they suggested either that or an OS GIKEN. Some of the other stuff out there will fail prematurely and you'll be taking the car back apart.
