I replaced the DMF in my R53 at 145k Miles.

Did it only because the TO bearing had some operational signs of wear.

I prefer not to cover same ground twice especially since it's typically a 6-8 hr job, so ALL these parts were replaced in additon to input and output cylinders.

FYI: The flywheel with 145K miles on it was still in great condition, almost like new.....So I have no idea what yoy refer to with repspect the R53 Flywheel.

Does this sound like loud bubble wrap being popped? its like a knock or as you said slap when I go on and off the throttle in first or second, sometimes I can hear it when shifting from 2nd to 3rd as well... I can't figure out what it is!!

Mine isnt that loud and I only notice it at idle. If we are talking about a bad dual clutch.

Exactly the same symptoms as mine. I have a 04 model S. Mine also makes the Klunking noise when shifting from 1 to 2. The strange thing is, it only happens sometimes. I can do an entire journey without it making any noises and the next day the noise would start. But it doesn't seem like something I should be too concerned about. Car shifts smoothly with or without the noise.

yeah thats it! It's really irritating. sometimes its really loud and other times it doesn't do it at all. And my car shifts fine too. in fact my car only has 38,000 miles so I'm confused as to why stuff like this is happening so soon. any ideas on what it is? I don't even know where to start.

I 2nd, er 3rd, er, 17th most of the above with the shift from 1st to 2nd and the clutch chatter. My clutch only has about 20k miles on it too. Shifts great too with no issues other than the noise. The guys at DDMWorks said it seemed fine and there were no signs of problems.

Sorry, posted on wrong thread.

I got my clutch replaced along with the trans at 49k miles. I think the previous owner beat on the thing a bit.

I get the "chewbacca" noise occasionally on cold mornings, which are few here in Mordor....

C ya,
Dutch
