2010 MiniS Idle dip when stopping
2010 20K miles Mini cooper S
I purchased it second hand and everything seemed fine. Bring it to the dealer for service and recalls. They did a Timing chain update, Aux Water pump, talked me in to alignment and cleaning the injectors. I then drove it straight to Honda where I purchased it to have it de-smoked from the previous owner. They must have had the car idling for hours I imagine to keep the AC running as they cleaned the system. (I noticed average mileage went from 25mpg to 18 mpg just for that one tank)
I called and they said the engine would "reprogram to my driving"
When you come to a fairly quick stop the RPM drop below idle and then kick back up and it settles. It can be a little strange when driving long trips with stop and go traffic. You can hear this from the motor as well as see it on the tach maybe 300 RPM but it kind of lunges like something is catching up. I have never seen it happen when very cold, takes 5~10 minutes. Never seen it happen when in Sport mode either.
It is almost like the Automatic transmission doesn't release the clutch quick enough. Dealer of course kept the car for 1 week and found no errors or issues at all. I even let the service manager (supposedly) take it home so he could drive 40 miles. I also find the gas pedal very touchy in the first inch of travel which I accept could be normal as they say. They loaned me an identical 2012 for the week and it never had either of these issues and was a joy to drive. Made me feel like I shouldn't have purchased used or I need a different stealership? Anyone had issues like this? Any suggestions? I've already wasted a ton of $ in time seeing them. Is it worth a try to disconnect the battery overnight? Maybe Honda idling the car for hours messed with the computer? Another independent said that cleaning the injectors at 20K miles is unheard of even if it is 2 years old. They said "we will check it and only clean them if we need to" (That service was $500)

OK Got excited thought it worked but as soon as it warmed up the same problem. Even tried a little electrical cleaner De-Oxit which is great stuff. I wrote a letter explaining everything to Mini as instructed by the dealership. I get a response "We are sorry you are having problems with your navigation" Cause I mentioned a new engine map but described all the problem, its like they didn't read the 1 paragraph email I basically educated the dealership on the issue and now they also notice it on the 2010s. Mini does apprently have recorfds of other complaining about it but probably wont fix it unless they get enough complaints.
I was wondering if the custom maps would fix it.
Anyone know anything about the ALTA performance? Probably talked about here somewhere.

Here is what really is unnerving. The Service manager at my dealership says they (Mini) have heard of the compliant before and might start working on an ECU map to fix it. He suggests I send a letter to Mini to help prompt a solution. Customer service says that there is no place for me to send such an email or letter and that my only path is through a dealership. Talk about passing the buck ! Urrrrrgh
