External Antenna

I have a 2004 Mini Cooper base model. My Mini has an antenna on the roof at the very back of the car just before the hatch hinges. Anyway I got Mini washed one day and heard a pop then a clunk and realized the car wash ate my antenna. I did pull out then walk back in to retrieve my car parts...so embarrassing but had to be done. I tried to just put the antenna back on which makes a snapping noise and then we're good to go. It doesn't wiggle or anything, until I go through another car wash, there goes the antenna.

Has anyone experienced this?
Is there a way to fasten this guy on for the long haul?

Just remove the antenna before sending the car through a car wash.
