triangle of death
Hi everyone I am new here. Me and my wife bought our 05 mini s over a year ago and have no real problems that i couldnt fix until now. i have all three brake lights on at all times. the brake pad sensor, the DSC, and low tire inflation. i had the codes read and it came up with a few different ones. one was speed sensor fault and the others were misfire in cylinder #1 and misfire due to low fuel. Now the service engine soon light will come on and blink a few times and then the car will be sluggish like it isnt firing on all cylinders. i turn the car off and restart it and it runs fine. all wires and plugs have been tested and are in good running order. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i just read this on another forum and thought it suspiously similar:
Warning lights on.All cars with ABS Any one with ABS might want to check this. After having random warning lights, and even gauges going up into the red ,my 04 mini one, decided to keep all the warning lights on and then the speedo stopped working.Whilst checking all earth points, and speed sensors, i finally found that, the wiring loom that goes to the ABS unit(right hand side, next to the windscreen, under the bonnet)had been rubbing the rear support leg,so much so,that it had worn through three cables! The only sign on the leg of the abs,was a small rust mark where the loom rubbed. You could only tell that the cables had worn through by undoing the black tape that is wound round the loom.I cleaned up and soldiered the wires back together.I rerouted the loom and protected it with some flexible plastic conduit ,from an old wiring loom.Hope this helps,it took me a long time to find this fault.I read some where that someone else had a loom cut under the ABS unit,so might by worth checking.
