Flickering tachometer needle

I've had this problem for a couple weeks now, but didn't think too much of it since it didn't repeat itself too often. But now, it's been repeating itself a lot more.

Basically, my tachometer needle randomly flickers, usually when I'm below 3000RPM. I really don't think that it's a battery issue since the headlights don't dim out or anything.

I don't have any other dashboard light issues, just the flickering tach needle. I'm kind of suspecting a bulb that's about to quit, but I thought I'd ask here for advice before wasting time and money on a bulb.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a weak battery (doesn't hurt/cost to get it checked out) or dirty battery terminals.

I replaced my battery back in November, and I recently cleaned the terminals when I realized I didn't hook up the vent tube.

I won't rule out the possibility of a bad battery, but would a bad battery cause only the tach needle to flicker?

Also, I have a voltmeter integrated into my amplifier remote and it says it gets around 12V when the engine is off or at idle, and 14.4V when the car is in motion. This makes me skeptical that it is a battery issue.
