It should fit flush and watch that main seal on the bottom, connected to the bottom of the glass, that has to be up and in and then the panels slide into that strip seal
Goes on dry and pushes up on the metal end toward the windsheild. You have to watch because most window install places get the seal stuff (betalink) on that seal and then its hard to get off and replace. Or they run the rubber caulk (betalink) to low on the window frame.
One end side peice is stuck to body not wind screen I may try to get something uned to get off.

I ordered this kit from ecstuning for my r55 Clubman, got it today and tried to install it. Unfortunately I am struggling a lot with the lower windshield strip that the cowl pieces sit on/in. My old one came off during the removal and was falling apart anyways. I cannot get the new strip to slide onto the bottom of the windshield fully and stay seated there. Abandoned the project for the night. Should I try warming up the piece with a blow drier or heat gun tomorrow? Also, my old one had traces of windshield adhesive on the inner channel (and the windshield is genuine Mini), do I need to put some adhesive into the channel?

On the separate rubber strip that goes on the edge, if you had the window replaced like I did, some of the safelite people use a little too much betalink aka window sealant and it pushes too far down the seal does not have enough room to hold on. What you have to do is either clean out some of it on the lower edge to fit the seal or call the window repair shop back and let them know , they have a tool to clean it out.

I am experiencing the same exact issue? What did you do to finally get that cowl seal on?
My windshield was replaced last week and now I am replacing all of the windshield cowl parts but that seal will not install.
I went to the glass store where they told me the windshield has to come out to fit that strip on!
i had also just had windshield replaced so they redid the job!
Yep, the windshield does not have to come out unless A. they did not fit the aftermarket windshield correctly or B. the windshield installer put the betalink sealant way too low on the windshield and thus does not have the edge exposed to grip the seal on.
Most places have a Hook Knife and can trim some of it away. Unless they did not run a thick bead,
Like so many, these parts are toasted by the sun on my 2013 MCS -- my follow-on question is, is this a likely cause for a driver side floor being wet after a light rain?
I've already fixed my sunroof drain tube and was surprised that the floor got wet again so now wondering if the deteriorated seal at the bottom of the windshield lets water get somewhere along the firewall or elsewhere...?
Bad windshield replacements will do that or the a bad seal on the side door against the window.. When the cowls crack or get damaged the water can make its way into the cabin filter area also. Pretty much you have to have a open spot straight to cabin filter inlet and a monsoon rain.

I'm assuming water getting into the cabin filter area would then leak down to the passenger floor -- my passenger floor is currently dry even though the battery lid portion of the cowl is compromised...
Windshield hasn't been replaced. Just trying to figure out the possible avenues for water entry on the drivers side.
My carpet is most wet right below the A pillar at the firewall if that helps narrow anything down.
So i followed a link here that says there is a DIY for the full kit on this thread. That is untrue as i need to install the windshield strip and there is no help in this thread. COME ON GUYS
As you can see in this thread and others that bottom seal goes on the bottom of the window and you remove that hold strip.
That white holder gets removed from the new part.
**** If the window has been replaced by safelite or any other glass shop that seal might not connect to the bottom of that windshield. They dont install the windshield correctly and too much sealant goes on the bottom. Thus no glass edge lip for the seal to catch to.
If this happens, then you need to take a knife and trim the betalink aka black sealant back.
To slide the seal on after that they use some silicone lube.

That seal grabs on the back of the cowl right where that large hard bump on the back of the cowl when you flip it.
Understood about the black sealant needing to be removed and using some silicone grease to get it on, but have you ever heard of anyone using any type of adhesive caulk in the channel to hold the seal to the windshield?
Yes, some people said they want to insure it says in place and use a little betalink to hold it.
I bet safelite 100% and other places do that as they are reusing an old seal. They dont order these from us when they change out a broken windshield and then when they replace it, just try to make it work.
They use windshield weld aka betalink. Also know as 3M window weld for the safelite people.
Then it can damage the old one (flair it out too much) or leave residue that needs cleaned off to install the new one.
If the window is clean and betalink is trimmed back under that lip so the seal can go all the way on its should hold. A little betalink can be used so it will not slide off. Just dont gob it on there.
