Range = 0, fuel tank full > gauge problem
My Cooper Clubman 2010 at 44,000 miles has fuel gauge problems that started intermittently about 1000 miles ago. No other known problems.
It started when I noticed that it registered two ticks down just after I filled up. I had driven 20 miles by the time I took it back to the gas station and put 0.5 gals in it. I normally get 36-40 mpg.
This has happened several more times with various ticks down but always more than the fuel I've actually used.
This weekend it was down to 2 red ticks, range 87, yet it only took 3.5 gals when I went to fill up. Upon returning 200 miles to home, it went to 0 range and then '----' and the red pump. Because I had filled it up at the trip beginning, I kept driving until I got home.
I have a service appt on Thurs. Anyone else had this problem or ideas?
