Cosmoline?

Is this cosmoline? Found it this morning under the front passenger wheel area. Outside temp was -5F. About 25F inside the garage. Had been driving in some very bitter wind chills. (-20 to -30F)

I'm not "up" on Series 2 MINI's but it looks like a failure of the RH motor mount.

1. NO - not coz' ... not any form I've ever seen anyway

2. Motor Mount? Never heard on a GEN2 motor mount issue, unlike the standing GEN1 'wet mount' issue. And then you see fluid not chunks. If that's a MM issue it has a new face for me to remember.

3. Denver, ice and cold and crud - any possibility you just picked up a random hunk of junk that got caught in the slush and when parked in the 'warm' garage, fell down?

beyond this all I can say is get a flashlight and inspect the wheel well. did u hear anything? did the liner come loose and get sucked into the wheel and chunks pulled off.? picture is blurry, sorry can't help more

ask me why I live in Florida!

Here's a better pic. It smells like gas and appears to be coming from behind the wheel-well and firewall where nothing is visible. I was actually in North Dakota at the time. My Mom saw this after I had left for the 950 mile trip back to Denver. Made it back with no issues but I now noticed a few drops after parking overnight.

oh .. it is a fluid ... looked like chunks of something b4. Is it thick?

does look like the gen1 wet motor mount's fluid but as I said never heard of this on a GEN2. OTOH a bad mount won't have any impact on how the motor runs.

I'd take a peek in the battery compartment. It's in this area and there is certainly a drain . . . I'd just rule it out.
