Water pump leaks - how many miles?

I am sorry, you are correct. It is MIN & MAX. Sorry I was thinking of my other car.
If you have only filled it once then you might just be starting to see the begining stages of one of the two parts begining to fail.
My thermostat housing started leak a little around where the temp sensor goes. And then the major leaking was when the two halves of the housing (which are glued together) started leaking where the return pipe attaches the housing.
The water pump leaks at the bottom of the pump from what looks like an electrical plug of sorts. Easiest way to see that is to jack up the car and crawl under there and use a flash light to see if there is any dried up coolant on the pump or block.
When the water pump begins to leak it leaks so slow that the coolant dries up from the heat before it touches the ground. The telltale is the greenish/blue colour on the block.

My W/P and thermostat housing were both leaking. At first the thermostat housing was leaking the worst. It leaks onto the transmission and pools right on top. Easy to see when looking past the intake tube. Also it leaks down the transmission and drips onto the ground just to the driver side of the middle of the car.
The water pump is located on the passenger side and it drips down the motor and we onto the passenger side of the vehicle.
Where the coolant leaks is a certain telltale of what part is failing.

Some drops on the lip of the passenger side of the car too, as well as the plastic undertray type piece on the passenger side.

I changed mine last week... Car has 55k km/35k mls. But I didn't go with the OEM, I bought myself a GRAF PA994. The housing and impeller are aluminium and composite respectively, just like the newer OEM.
The plastic original ones have a kind of plug on them which is a valve: this is where mine was leaking from. The aluminium ones (OEM or not) do not have that.

Leaking as well
I'm at East Bay Mini for some maintenance work, and my service adviser just showed me a picture of the undercarriage; it shows staining where the pump is leaking and drying up. I've got some 61,000 miles on it. The part is about $200 and with labor it'll run me over $700.
eh yeah. . . that's a DIY. More accurately that'll be ask my engineer-car-enthusiast-self-taught-Bimmer-mechanic brother to do it.

I have an 09 S with 72K on it, and was told during regular service that the water pump was "seeping". Plan to get it done soon, but issue is that I got a P0128 error code on the way home from service. Any ideas of if this is related to the pump issue- or testing for the pump? Seems to have plenty of coolant and is running well. Car is out of warranty so I was thinking of having the mechanic I took my Saabs to do the water pump as the dealer is 2 hours away. Mini quoted $660 for the water pump. Any thoughts on what threw the code or the cost of the job?

RadioFlyer - just out of warranty, right? MINI should really be extending the warranty out on this like they did with the power steering pump on the Gen 1's. Of course, most Gen 1's were beyond the 100,000 at the point MINI pulled the trigger...
Man, I love this car, but I started this thread because MINI should be doing the right thing on known and rampant problems and deal with it early. I know, it's not the business model, but I haven't been a fan of the "business model" since '08 when, oh by the way, I BOUGHT MY MINI. All of us have bought into the MINI concept - make it SOLID in every way and we'll be back!
