I just had a professional shop convert my 2003 r50 to a used 6 speed getrag with used 6 speed shifter assembly. As you know this is a major swap from the stock cvt that went bad.
The getrag was from a 2003 mini s as was the shifter assembly as far as I know. About 25 miles after I left the shop that changed this transmission I had to stop in interstate traffic. Upon restart the trans choked and stalled the engine. It appears that the transmission is starting in 3rd gear (high revs and feathering the new clutch is required. I cannot access reverse nor 1st and second gears. Had to scrub the brand new Valeo clutch kit to get rolling. when picked up at the shop it appeared to function normally. I hear these older shifter cables break and sometimes the linkage may bend.
Is this likely a shifter / cable/ linkage problem or a transmission issue? Any ideas are appreciated.
