MiniKar - Its a OEM Genuine MINI handle all in one unit. OEM MINI lens and gasket. .

I have seen the lens pop out and corrode the whole handle all the time. Also water and salt gets behind the handle gasket and corrodes.

Thanks

I don't hear anything when I try to open it.

I ended up ordering a replacement handle from ECS. Hopefully they can get it shipped out today **wink wink, nudge nudge**

I have the same problem that began after a car wash. No noise at all when you depress the handle. If you listen real well, you can hear the micro switch but nothing else happens. My best guess is the handle is bad?
I tried to take off the handle the other weekend to investigate but I was having a problem getting it off. Correct me if I am wrong, but is there more of that dreaded 2 sided sticky tape in addition to the bolts?
I will be ordering one next week.

When you take the handle off there is four screws and one electrical connection that you have to un-clip. That's all. Sounds like the foam seal backing is sticking to the body. Be gentle after you take the screws out. The handle will come off.

There are little snaps in built into the handle backing between the lens housing and the outer screw hole. They could be possibly holding on.

Here is a pic.

Thanks and I hope that helps.

All that has happened to mine is that the "condom" that covers the microswitch has rotted away and dropped two plastic pieces out of it. Hatch works fine when activated from the key fob, never any trouble with that. So this takes a $100 to fix?

51477114536 is the switch, from what I can tell, 51137058071 might be the rubber bit. Can anyone confirm these two parts will work? Otherwise, I guess one day I will order the whole bloody chrome part.

I would pop out the switch/handle assembly and connect my multimeter leads to the plug, set to continuity (tone) and listen for the tone for each time I compress the switch. If this proves the switch is at fault I would replace it. (I don't know if I would do it as an assembly or by lower level parts, that would depend on price)

Motor on!

51477114536 is the micro-switch , but the seal, lens, rubber grip seal can tear and leak.

51137058071 is the old part number for the microswitch , not the gasket. No part number for that rubber grip gasket.

Thanks

Thanks, its bad news but now I know. All of that looks good there, it is just someone with sharp fingernails pinched it too many times. I will wait until it bothers me, I can release it with the key fob.

Had this happen to my 03 and it turned out the micro switch broke off so the handle would not push the button. Glued it back together and all is working again.
