Power steering pump fan replacement

I need a little help from the NAM members.

I need to change my power steering pump fan.

A couple of the on-line parts places say their are two different fans.

Is their really a difference in the replacement fan for an R53 with a manual vs an automatice transmission ???

Or, am I getting a higher price ( + $ 40 more ) just because it has an automatic transmission ???

It looks the same to me, but they show two different part numbers . . . .

If you know, please help...... Thanks !

AFAIK, the only difference is that the AT model has attachment holes for the 'fan isolator' for lack of a better term. This is a tube that attaches to the splash guard and covers the fan. You may be able to pull the new fan and attach it to your existing bracket.

Yes depending on where you get it: AT tranmission fan does not come with the grille and has the little attachment holes.

MINI has superseded the automatic fan to the manual fan and you just remove the grille.

MINI has since updated the one for the MT and its the same. But comes with the grille.

Hop that helps you out. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks for the explanation of what is going on with the two different numbers.

So its the bracket that is different, not the fan itself. . . . . . . . .

Yes,

Dependent on where you get it, some people are selling the older part in stock and it does not have the guard. I can tell you that we have the part you need.

MINI Genuine part has moved to a newer part number which combined the two separate part numbers. Thus all you do is buy one : remove grille for automatic , keep it with the grille for manual. You can see both manual and auto now have the little tabs.

Thanks and I hope that helps.

Also check ebay.
I got a replacement fan for $35 a few months back. Just the fan and motor but the transplant went smooth and it works great.
