2005 S, engine noise, is this normal?

Today when I stopped with the windows down I noticed a noise coming from the engine. The best I can describe it is it sounds like a helicopter. I took some video, with the car running at idle, at a stop. I have been driving about 40 minutes on the highway at this point. All the gauges look fine.

Since the car is new to me, I wanted to get your opinion in the "normalcy" of the engine sound. Thanks!

I'm guessing only does it with the car in neutral and goes away when you push the clutch in, or while driving.

If so the is the famous "chewbacca" clutch noise caused by the dual mass flywheel. Sometimes if you let the clutch out (while in neutral) the noise will go away. Some say to replace the clutch, but I've been running with this for well over 250,000 miles.

I don't think it is the supercharger, if it was that noisy I think you would be overheating.

Wow, nice diagnosing! It only happens with the clutch out, car in neutral. It goes away when I push the clutch in. Here is a video that shows it: clutch out (noise), clutch in (goes away, 7 seconds), clutch out (noise comes back, 17 seconds).

So probably nothing to worry about? I will keep driving it then, thanks

I know I wouldn't worry, errrr...... haven't worried about mine.

On my earlier post i meant to say let out the clutch very slowly, and sometime the noise wont happen...
