High pressure fuel Pump help

Used HPFP on my MINI died yesterday.Car has issues on start up ,
The man who sold me the used one said that he replaced with a used one again.
Anyway my question is: can somebody be able to repair it so to fuel pump begin to start up again
I don't believe him ,i think that is the same pump .

I don't think it can be repaired internally.

What model and year is your MINI ?

HPFP looks like this: There is an early HPFP for the N14 engine pictured below. Then a newer one for the N18 engine.

It can not be. Well it could be, but none of the internal parts that would or could be serviced are sold by BMWNA/MINIUSA.

Anything can be repaired, (ask an old school mechanic) but @ what cost (time, parts, failure rate)? We operate in the "dumb it down" replace it era (or even worse shotgun techs...) of automotive service/repair. Most of the engineers and manufactures look at their service tech's as at best "parts replacers" who lack the skill to perform such tasks as rebuilding things of this nature. To be quite honest, I don't think I'd want many of the techs in the industry today even attempting something of this nature just for the above reason. Kinda of sad though...even sadder is many of these techs don't even know how the part "physically" functions.

Strange that after the replacement he said i am hearing a rattling sound like this when the pump was broke down
