Radiator fan winding down - normal or about to go?
When I turn off my 03 MCS, it has a "winding down" noise for 2-3 seconds. We determined that the noise is coming from the radiator area, but haven't dug into it too deeply yet. Is this a symptom I should be concerned about?
The car is not overheating, and I think the low speed fan is working (I can hear the fan come on, but it doesn't sound like a "jet engine" as I see others have described the high speed fan as sounding like). It just makes a noise for a few seconds when the car is turned off (longer than any other car I've been in) that sounds like a motor or a fan is slowing down to a stop. I haven't been in many Minis, so not sure if this is normal?
I wouldn't worry so much about it, except that I'm moving away from my family (and personal mechanic - my dad!) in a few months. If something is wrong or showing symptoms, then I'd like to work on it now while I have the knowledge and support of my dad, rather than paying big $ for a dealership to fix it for me.

Do you have a clip of the noise?
What you are talking about sounds like the fan just setting after shutdown. Sounds like a high buzz, then locking very quick.
