Driver side door unlock

Driver side door unlock
Hey everyone,
I have a 2004 Cooper S. Everything's been fine lately, no problems. Drove it this morning to a park for a 5k, locked it, put the keys under the car in that little pocket in front of the rear wheel. Got back from the run, unlocked it, and the driver side door was still locked. The fuel door and the passenger door unlocked, but not the driver side. I climbed in the passenger seat and unlocked the door with the handle. The door will lock with both the key or the switch on the dash, but it won't unlock. Any ideas? I reset the ECU already to see if it was just a random flaw, but it made no difference.

Sounds like a bad door lock.
Here is the diagram and the lock itself to show you have things are set up behind the door. Can you here the door lock when you here the button trying to click, or no noise? Its right below the handle on the inside of the door.

When you open it by hand then press the lock key, it just locks is what it sounds like. The lock is all one unit and when triggered pushes the lock up and down. Without taking the lock out and inspecting it to see if its just stuck going up and trying to move, its hard to tell. That's why I asked if you can hear a noise, but most likely its the up function of the lock. Which is a replacement of the lock.
Thanks
Thanks
