Coolent leeking from oil cooler

Hi, I have a R53 05 MCS and whilst driving, the engine temp light came on, I pulled over and the coolant tank was empty. I had checked it 2 days before due to the fact we was having a heat wave here in Spain (37°C). I filled it up and drive straight home, engine temp was normal. As I drove on the drive I noticed a trail of water (or what I thought was water) along the drive. I looked in the engine bay and noticed that coolant was squirting out of the side of the oil cooler. I left it overnight to cool down, the next morning I started the car up and let it get to temp but it's not leaking anymore. Has anyone else experienced this?

You are talking about the oil cooler / heat exchanger on the near the oil filter housing?

Part number 11427509212

Leak out the side sounds like a hairline crack or possible leak from the hoes connection.

Thanks

Yes, I'm talking about the heat exchanger, don't think it's the hose because its coming from behind the hose. Any ideas why it just stopped leaking?

Don't know about it leaking then stopped. I would inspect the heat exchanger, you don't want to be driving then loose coolant and over heat.

Can you see where is exactly leaked and if there is a small crack there? Also inspect the connection to the hoses and make sure they are tight. I would narrow down the heat exchanger or the lines near the connection as possible other sources that make it look like the exchanger. You you can see a small crack then it needs replaced.

There are rubber seals but they go to the oil side #6, you can see the break don in the diagram. #5 is the heat exchanger.
