Low speed fan/No speed fan fix (attempt)(progress)

Hi all, as everyone knows, the radiator fans are garbage. After countless hours of trolling the internets, i have deduced that it is a faulty resistor which is under powered, and just crap in general. I replaced my completely broken fan (No running whatsoever) For a ,still garbage, Dorman or some AM crap. And, Surprise! No low speed fan. Well i guess having high speed is better than nothing, but im not the type of guy that settles for kinda fixed, i love my 03 R53 and i expect nothing less than perfect from it. So Here it is, maybe some of you lazy Mini owners will stop taking it to the shop and paying the 700 dollars for more garbage (if this works)

Step one: Remove the radiator fan. I already had this one out, use the search section to figure it out and plus its really easy i did it with a ratchet, 10mm socket, 13mm socket, and flathead. (channel locks help too)
Look! heres a wild radiator fan ready to be fixed! Name: IMG_0367_zps5faaf3c0.jpg

And here is my problem, the relay built in is completely fried (and melted)! how surprising.

So i will obviously need a whole new relay. Big deal 35 bucks, ok i can drop that. But im not going to leave that just like it comes. I did some research and found a better beefier resistor that should (i haven't tried it so we will see work better and last forever. Here it is, a 100W 470ohm 5% resistor.

once i get the new relay i will continue the posts of the wiring and hopefully fixing. If any of you have feedback or ideas, please let me know

He probably decided to follow the instructions in the now 1000+ thread on how to fix the low speed fan resistor problem. Found here:https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-solution.html

But hey, nice of him to drop by and call us lazy for figuring this problem out a couple of years back.

it probably melted its way through the plastic frame if he mounted it where it's shown in the first pic...

Per the cited thread, the correct resistor rating is 0.33 ohms, so that 470 ohm resistor won't work no matter where it's located.
