Burning or leaking oil?

I have an 02 S with 97k miles and I dont burn 1qt per 5000 miles. Maybe 1/2 -3/4. Losing that much oil is a problem. There is a bad seal or ring(s) somewhere. If you just check oil regularly it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just don't let the oil get low.

Yes. And I have fixed every oil leak and check for them regularly.

I don’t drive Artoo hard and he burns about a quart every 1000 miles. Lots of short runs but it’s been doing that for the last 80,000 miles.

Mini says it’s normal.

I believe it is just a common issue for the 1st Gen Chrysler designed Tritec engine made in Brazil. Do not love everything about it, but it is a tough engine. Depending on the driving conditions we have come close to hitting that ugly 1qt/1000 mile condition. Just got to check fluids and for leaks on a regular basis.
