Transmission problem??

We bought our daughter an 02 mini non-s with 5 speed manual transmission. It had 85,000 miles Just replaced the clutch. Now there is a clicking sound when the car is in gear and she lets off the gas. The sound goes away when she accelerates. Any help would be great.

I have heard there are some transmission issues and there are different ones out there (gertag/ Midland) any comments on what we have and what is better would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Midland Trans do have issues.. which im sure is what you have.. But have you happened to change the transmission oil? Look to see if you have excessive metal shavings?

The car is at the mechanic and I will have him look for metal. I am hoping that it is not the transmission since it does not have a lot of the signs of transmission failure that I have read about, like popping out of gear and grinding sounds.

Could it be a CV joint?

I had my clutch on my 05 non-S manual trans little over a month ago and now I have trans issue. The mechanic put it on a lift and put in gear, noise is coming from the transmission. I am planing to drain and refill to see if any metal shavings.

I will keep an eye on your thread to see what you find out

Amen-My mechanic is doing the same as I type. He thinks it is the tranny main bearing. He is putting a stethoscope to it to find the noise. I will keep you posted.

The mechanic said that the main bearing was shot and is recomending a new transmission. He does not recomend rebuilding it because the results are not "satisfactory in his experience"

Anyone have experience rebuilding the Midland trans?

My 07 mini died at 75000 miles: clutch and transmission broke. Dealer wants to have $6000 and my extended warranty doesn't pay.
Am I the only one?
Any ideas?

I just bought a rebuilt transmission from Mini Gearbox Ltd delivered to the US in one day no core return. Had my local transmission place install it for me and got it back friday so far so good.

You can also search Mini Gearboxes on ebay. They sell them there. They are about $1400 Then you need to find a mechanic that will put it in for you. About 10 hours seems average. So you can plan on about $2500, I was quoted $3500 everywhere I went and they would only put in a Factory remanufactured. This was in Orange county, no one wanted to deal with a non factory trans.
