How to check the PCV hose?

>>I've read many posts about PCV hose and valve that could cause lost of performance.
1st, where are these threads? Can you provide links? What "performance" is lost?
2ns, easy to check. If the hose feels soft and you can collapse it easily between your fingers, then the hose needs replacing.

Since a little while, I've noticed that sometimes, my car feels like it's missing power... Other times, the car really feels stronger (even more at lower RPM). I have a 15% pulley and an intake so far.
I already know that the PCV valve has something to do with the engine's back pressure. I've also read that if a little bit of oil comes in the PCV hose, it will collapse under throttle.
In another post, I've seen taht if you shake the valve and it rattles, then the valve is ok but if there's no sound coming out of it, then it needs to ben replaces.
The only thing I'd like to know is how to reach it
I would like to have a look at it to make sure everything is ok.
Thanks for any help!

The PCV valve and it's little right-angle hose reside just below the "MINI" plate on the top of the engine when you stand in front of the car and look at it. The hose attaches to the valve and then to a plastic tube which routes to the intake just behind the throttle body. There is nothing special about this hose, it's about 3/8" I.D. and pushes onto each fitting with no clamps or tools. a length of 3/8 fuel line would work fine, a molded right angle hose would be less prone to being kinked. Most auto parts stores can hook you up (no pun intended) with a replacement hose.
The problem with the stock hose is that there is no reinforcement which would keep the hose from collapsing under high vacuum. Heat, combined with the oily vaopr passing through the hose softens it, and it collapses, often making a groaning, whistling or farting sound. I replaced mine with a length of reinforced fuel line hose and it's been fine.

Yep, that's it. Squeeze it (especially when the engine is running and hot) and it will undoubtedly feel soft and collapse rather easily. The PCV valve is held in the valve cover near the "M" with the small bolt.
