Incredibly hot around the footwell.
So yesterday topped out the summer with 111F in the SoCal desert, and usually my 02 R50 can handle these kind of heatwaves at the cost of myself losing a couple pounds of water weight on the leather seats.
Anyway, after driving around and getting some airflow to cool down the cabin and the engine, my feet started to warm up. Well alright, it's done this before, it's been much hotter here, this is usually the norm. And then it wouldn't stop warming up. It got to the point where I had to find some shade and pull over because my feet were starting to redden up.
I felt around the footwell to see where exactly the flames of hell were spilling out. The fuse box was too hot to touch for more than a few moments and the heatsink by the throttle nearly burned my palm!
I understand that when it's hot outside the engine has to get rid of the heat somehow, but wow! I've driven around at 116F and it's never gotten this bad. I checked the coolant reservoir and it's doing fine, fluids are at level. Windows were down and vents weren't on because I'm waiting for payday when I can get my A/C bled and recharged.
I haven't had time to look at it this morning, but when I get out there is there anything specific I should be looking for?
