Stalling in reverse
#1
A few times with my MC, the idle has dropped so low that the engine almost stalls out. This has only occured when i engage the clutch after reversing, usually when the car has been sitting still for some time but not always. It has occurred about 4 or 5 times in the 7 weeks I've owned the car. Mine is a late 2002. Any ideas if the software upgrade is needed/will fix the problem? I am taking it into the dealer tomorrow to get it checked out.

sd,
Yes! There's loads of info on the famous "CD 31" software update that you can have your dealer install for you. There are many posts here about it including the one I've given below.
It's for all 2002 MINI Coopers and it'll improve acceleration, and reduce idle stalls, etc. Recommended for your model and build date.
