Every once in a while my 06jcw trunk aka boot. Won't open from outside. I need to lift the seat and pull the release to get it to. It seams like it has something to do with moisture as both times it has happened has been after some rain and then later (like maybe it's dry) it will work with no problem at all.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anywhere that I should be spraying something that repels mousture(like wd40)? Any other ideas or suggestions???

Yes, water got into the switch inside the handle on the lift gate. I was able to take the whole thing apart and clean the contacts inside the switch, but it was a pain and I wouldn't recommend it.

I also realized water was getting into the license plate lights and corroding the contacts. Once water starts to get in the whole thing starts to crap out apparently. I eventually just replaced the whole handle assembly. I would recommend the same.

They come unpainted from the dealer. If you're not up for painting or don't want to pay someone else to do it, there's a chrome finish option for a few bucks more.
