Change Ignitor on Xenon front lamp
Hello!
I have a Mini Cooper S R53 year 2003.
My Xenon front left lamp sometimes doesn't switch on.
I tried to change the lamp and swap the ballasts but the problem remains.
So I purchased an ignitor suitable for that car.
But how can I change it? It is a little black box inside the light. Someone has already done this operation? Someone says I must unglue the seal with warm air. There are other possibilities?
Thanks a lot.

If you want to replace the assembly it is EXPENSIVE from Mini. But the Hella left assembly 010071031 or the 010071041 right assembly is much cheaper and the EXACT same assembly. Amazon typically is the cheapest but your mileage may vary.

Does anyone know how to tell if the ignitor is 2 or 3 pin before disassembly? I want to order the correct part. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+igniter,13030

I ordered both 2 and 3 pin igniters from rockauto. Today I'm trying to get the lens off with no joy. My car was manufactured 06/2004, and it seems like the silicone "goop" is actually more like a rubber gasket or seal that seems impervious to heat. The lens and housing get soft before the seal does. Has anyone ever successfully gotten one of these lenses off? And perhaps more importantly, got it back on? HELP! Or should I say "Hella"?...
