funny lights issues
So I am trying to revive a Mini which sat with a broken side window for a while - like a year or more. It was also parked for 5 years.
The car runs as a charm. The radio, the windows, the lighter socket - everything inside works just fine.
The lights are totally messed up: one or both hi beams are on when they should be off and the car is locked. Yesterday the low beams have worked but today they do not. At some point only one of the rear marker lights was on but later the other one has also turned on. Oh, and another thing - at some point the dom light was blinking when I open the door.
I suspect it's either the body control module, the headlights switch or just the sockets at the lights.
I guess I am leaning toward the BCM. Is the dom light controlled by the BCM? Could it be anything else?

I now know the answer.
Since it easy to get to the BCM I've decided to look at it. I have found the wire and the corner connection submerged in water - the soundproofing is such a perfect spangle :(
Anyway, this picture should say it all:
I guess they have chosen a less than perfect location for the BCM.
Anyway, that's an easy fix and I am glad I have found the problem!
