limp mode and burning smell

Please help. Ok so i have a 2005 cooper s. I have been driving it on and off all day the last time i drove it today i had just started to leave and was shifting gears when i notice i had no power i pushed the gas to the floor with no real change in rpms. I then pulled over and noticed that the car was running very rough almost like it was only firing on 2 or 3 cylinders at the same time i noticed a burning rubber smell i shut the car off and checked under the car for leaking fluids nothing was leaking i then checked the all the fluids all were good. I then limped the car back and started trying to troubleshoot. The smell seems to be coming from the passenger side were the belt and pulley's are. I have searched this and other fourms and it seems that my problem is my harmonic balancer and crank pulley is cracked. My questions are do yall agree and would the limp mode make it run so enough and also what do yall think about the ati crank and balancer. Thank yall

Yes I would say its definitely your crank pulley, car will go into limp when it is going. ATI is the best replacement it is a little more expensive but its the best hands down, there is another called fluidampr or something like that that is said to be good as well and not as expensive.

Have the ati....
No complaints....
Works better than the OEM...car idles smoother...
Just check to see if that is the issue...
Failed crank damper usually means car runs OK (for a few seconds) but you get a bunch of lites, a few codes, and the car will begin to overheat with a battery light...
You can look at it from the wheel well...of even see if you can wiggle the crank damper with a prybar...see if it is separating....

ATI time. Have seen both the ATI & PRW side by side. The former's milling & finish is superior. If PRW is opted, make sure to thoroughly remove burrs & grease. Both are way better than stock.
To remove the crank bolt, use Scotty Kilmer's trick. Be carefure: Crank but not long enough to start the engine.

Haven't tried, but the tensioner might still be able to take it. I believe the JCW 6PK1374 should work, too.

Since there is only one seller of the ati+2% (that I know of)....I'm sure they will tell you the right belt to use....

Its funny I know Way has the exclusive on the ATI 2%, but ATI tells me they don't make a 2% for the MINI, I thought that was strange.
