R53 Xenon issue

For the past month my passenger side xenon (d2s) bulb would delay start. Just died the other day. So I did some research, checked my fuses and swapped bulbs still no luck. Next course of action was to swap the control module or ballast to see if the problem followed. Based on previous posts I was under the impression that its a simple plug and play between the two ballasts but after opening the covers they are wired differently did I just make that up or should I be able to swap them. Also when I removed the passenger side there was water in the cover were the wires plug into the ballast. There doesn't seem to be any visual damage to the electronics of the ballast. I understand these lights can be finicky, is it something I should just pony up the dough and have professional diagnose?

Any input as to where I should look to find the issue? Should I be able to simply swap the ballasts? Not too mechanically inclined so any advise is much appreciated.

Sounds like a bad igniter...
Usual fix is a new headlight...but a few folks have opened it up (like when doing the joey mod I think);to change the part.

Edit...just reread.... Try swapping the ballast first...

Update: With a happy ending

I let it air dry and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner put it back together and problem solved. Fires right up with the driver side. I'll keep an eye on it hopefully thats all that was need.

Thanks for the help.
