Engine acting like its in limp mode

2002 MCS 173K. Strange problem develops "after" I've been in heavy stop and go traffic ....20 minutes to go 1 1/2 miles traffic. The car runs fine until I shut it off. No SES light and water temp is normal, the cars sounds normal. I stopped at a store for about 15 minutes and when I come out the car starts but runs really rough and stalls. It doesn't want to bring the RPM's up, its like its in the limp mode. Once I have the car running by feathering the throttle I can keep it running but not the normal power. Still no SES lights or any visible issue. By the time I get the car home (about 5/10 minutes) it starts to clear up. The next morning its fine. This has only been happening after being in the 20-30 minute heavy traffic. I still am on the original 02 sensors.

I'll stop at AutoZone tomorrow to see if there are any basic codes stored.

Any ideas????????
