R53 starts.....then dies sometiems? Why?
#52
Well, I didn't have a single problem all last week. Every morning it fired right up without any issues. Then after it sat all weekend....I go to fire it up this morning, and it did the fire up then die thing again.
It's such a random issue...I think I'm just going to live with it until the problem either gets worse, or goes away. Not sure I want to start throwing money at it right now....especially when there are some many little things it could be.

It seems like it's so sporadic...it's really hard to figure out. Sometimes it will do it every morning......but for the last month it hasn't done it at all. Really hard to figure out when it's not consistent.

R53 will not idle after going above 3K RPM
I recently took 400 mile road trip and noticed some intense stuttering when I let off the gas on the highway. When I pulled off the highway to get gas the car stuttered and shut off. I restarted the engine but the car would simply not idle. Given the remainder of my trip was going to filled with traffic I resorted to letting the car die out and simply restart it over and over everytime I needed to move again.
After much frustration I took the car to a Pepboys to have the codes read where the car put a P0108 code. After doing some research on the issue I decided to order a new TMAP sensor. The sensor came a few days later and in the process of waiting I took the existing TMAP sensor out of my car. I found that the old sensor after 115,000 miles was covered in oil. I cleaned the sensor and reinstalled it but no luck the sensor had sustained enough damage over the 115k that it needed to be replaced.
I got the new sensor in and put it in and voila no problems. I will post again if anything changes.
